1st day is Monday August 29th!
I am actually looking forward to our first day of school. I think because I have poured so much time and energy in getting us ready! We have many firsts this year...using lapbooks and getting back to the more classical style of homeschooling, plus participating in a co-op! I really hope the kids enjoy all that I have planned for them this year!

A Name for Our School
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Psalm 127:4
We have pondered on a name for our homeschool for years and nothing ever seem to fit (plus I am just really bad at naming things!) so I decided we would go nameless or if anyone asked we would say, "Last name Homeschool" which just doesn't have that ring to it that I wanted. Today while preparing and planning our school year, I came across a blog post about naming your family's school at Raising Arrows. After reading her post I began thinking of verses and words I would use to describe my goals and vision for my children and their years of home instruction. The above verse has been hanging on my wall along with the verses that come before and after for many years. I've always thought of my children as arrows that we will one day release and pray that they soar and hit the mark that God has for them. The word mighty came to mind, so I googled the definition. It says "Possessing great and impressive power or strength". What a great word! So I put the two together and asked the kids what they thought. All of them were very excited about it...Matthew even said he thought we should have shirts made :) So we are now Mighty Arrows Academy! Here we will post exciting things throughout our school years to look back on and watch as we sharpen our arrows before we release them into the world!
